Play-Doh: Safe no matter what you make
Created by DDB Singapore
South East Asia brings one of the most humorous of ad campaigns for a children’s play product: Play-Doh: Safe no matter what you make. To those with a sense of humor, coming across these would cause quite the chuckle.
Now I would think and everyone would probably agree that these ads are not for the children themselves but target to a younger generation of parents that would see the picture on the magazine.
They are implying that Play-Doh is better for children than playing violent video games, copying or watching R-rated movies.
I like this ad because out of all the ads campaign I’ve seen this one really caught my eye and made me laugh. I like the ironic twist and the sense of humor that this ad brings. I think this ad would be affected to the target group (younger parents) because they could also find this campaign funny and ironic. I think because agency took something so childish and turn it into something funny but at the same time sending a message that is so true, they all just be drawn to the campaign and will also remember that ironic Play-Doh campaign.
Great visually driven campaign. As a writer it's ironic that I am usually drawn to them. DDB is such a great agency worldwide and has come up with so many great ideas in the past. The post itself was a bit hard to follow. Remember to re-read it over before posting.
ReplyDeleteI think these advertisements are really interesting and clever. They grab your attention immediately with their bright colours that are set against the white background. I also like the campaign because it’s unexpected and different from typical Play-Doh or even other advertisements for children’s products. I think it’s interesting that these advertisements aren’t targeted towards the people who will be actually be using the product but to those who will be purchasing it. Overall I think this is a really effective campaign.
ReplyDeleteI love this ads,
ReplyDeletethey are funny and definitely grab your attention. The campaign is very different from what you usually see with the brand.
Which I feel gives the product a fresh new look.
I really enjoy these ads!
Although I personally think that these advertisements are very entertaining Play-Doh must be very careful not to create a negative association with the brand. The advertisements maybe humorous but some parents might steer away from the product seeing it in such a negative light. Especially newer parents who may be a little over protective of their children, they might be put off by this campaign.
ReplyDeleteOverall I believe that consumers will respond to the humorous feel of the campaign. It is a very different way to go about advertising children's toys and I agree with you when you mentioned the target market of the ads would find them funny. This campaign is a refreshing change from the classic campaign directed to the users of the product instead of the actual purchasers of the product. Thanks for showing us such a off the wall campaign, I quite enjoyed them!
